To Whom it May Concern:

Here are a few of my impressions of the work of Rev. Greg at UUCV during the 2016-17 Fiscal year:

  • He very successfully created an atmosphere of mutual respect with members of this very diverse and opinionated congregation
  • He brought a high level of energy, focus, vision
  • He inspired a high level of energy and focus among members of the congregation, getting us to stretch our notion of what we could do
  • He asked for, and got, a big commitment of work from congregants by telling us in advance, that  he would work hard and expect the congregation to work hard also
  • He stiffened the backbone of the Board and encouraged them to speak truth to a few incalcitrant members and to act when necessary
  • He brought a new approach and techniques to the Stewardship campaign, and succeeded in inspiring a large percentage of the pledge units to make substantial increases in their pledges
  • He maintained a superior level of preaching, which most found thoughtful, inspiring; he helped us to unleash our better angels
  • He helped improve and clarify our organization structure
  • He helped us with our grief in loss of several of our members, and presided at several memorial services
  • He found time and energy to offer pastoral visits and phone calls, although that was not expected in this interim ministry
  • He accomplished all of this and more in one year, which is as much as would normally be expected in a two-year interim ministry

We will miss his good cheer and energy and compassion, even though we look forward to installing our settled minister.
